The reason we recommend this is that browser typically improve in their operation from version to version and usually do not introduce new problems.

Your typical desktop database, on the other hand, has some level of compatibility from version to version but can cause other issues especially in environments with a mix of different versions of the same program.

Better still, adding or replacing a PC becomes a no-brainer for these web applications since all you really need is a decent web browser – no additional software is required. You can even mix PCs, Macs and even Linux machines! They just need a web browser...
